A large and appreciative audience enjoyed ‘An Evening of Virtuoso Classics’ performed by Mark Jennings, Head of Strings at Christ’s Hospital School, on Saturday 14th October.
Those climbing up the hill to St Hubert’s through the October evening mist were delighted to find a warm welcome and the church bathed in candlelight – a lovely setting for a rather special concert.
The fine acoustics in the church proved ideal for the wide-ranging programme of music which included pieces by Bach, Albeniz, Tarrega and Rodrigo. To conclude the evening the audience was treated to a rendition of ‘Cavatina’, the memorable theme music from the film, ‘The Deer Hunter’.
This autumn concert marked the end of what has proved to be a very successful first season of events for The Idsworth Church Friends Trust. The 2017 Programme attracted some 1500 visitors to its 9 events. The 2018 Programme is already well in hand and will be published early in the New Year.
